Helping Families Create Meaningful Memories, One Letter at a Time
Because the moments we share today become the memories our children carry into tomorrow
Our story
People often ask us how we came up with the idea for Captain Mail.
The truth is, it didn't begin with mail.
It began with a simple question.
"What would the ideal 30 to 45 minutes look like with our
children?"
Not the most educational.
Not the most entertaining.
The most meaningful.
We imagined sitting together around the kitchen table.
Reading a story.
Learning something fascinating about the world.
Building something with our hands.
Solving a puzzle.
Laughing at a silly joke.
Listening to beautiful music.
Asking questions.
Creating something together.
Making memories.
When we couldn't find an experience that brought all of
those things together, we decided to create it ourselves.
That's how Captain Mail was born.
Every adventure we create is still designed around that same question:
"Would this be 30 to 45 minutes we'd never regret spending together?"
Six years later, that's still the question that guides every adventure we create.
More Than Mail
At first glance, Captain Mail looks like personalized mail
for children.
But that was never the real goal.
The envelope is simply the invitation.
What happens after it's opened is what matters most.
A child sees an envelope with their own name on it.
For a moment, they feel seen.
Important.
Worth writing to.
Then someone they love pulls up a chair beside them.
Together they read.
Wonder.
Build.
Laugh.
Ask questions.
Discover something new.
For a little while, the outside world slows down.
No notifications. No algorithms. Just two people spending
meaningful time together.
Those are the moments we hope every adventure creates.
Curiosity Starts the Adventure. Trust Guides the Journey.
From the very beginning, it was important to us that every
adventure inspire curiosity while giving families
confidence that what their children were learning was
accurate and trustworthy.
That's why our educational adventures feature content
licensed from Encyclopedia Britannica—one of the world's
most respected educational publishers for more than 250
years.
By combining trusted educational content with storytelling,
creativity, hands-on activities, and play, we hope children
don't just learn new facts.
We hope they fall in love with learning itself.
What We Believe
Childhood doesn't need to be rushed.
It deserves to be experienced.
We believe curiosity is one of the greatest gifts we can
nurture.
We believe confidence grows through creating, exploring,
and discovering.
We believe emotional intelligence is just as important as
academic knowledge.
We believe learning should feel joyful.
Most of all...
We believe the moments we share today become the
memories our children carry into tomorrow.
Those beliefs shape every Captain Mail adventure we
create.
“Because the moments we share today become the
memories our children carry into tomorrow.”
Created by Parents
We're Daniel and Sigalit Somech, a husband-and-wife team
and parents of three.
Captain Mail didn't begin in a boardroom.
It began around our kitchen table.
Our children have tested countless stories, paper crafts,
activities, games, and jokes before they've ever reached
another family's mailbox.
They're our first readers.
Our first builders.
And our most honest critics.
Before every new adventure is finished, we ask ourselves
one simple question.
"Would this be 30 to 45 minutes we'd never regret spending
together?"
If the answer isn't yes...
We keep working.
Because every family deserves experiences that are worthy
of their time together.
A Collection Worth Keeping
Most childhood toys eventually end up forgotten in a
closet, packed into a donation box, or collecting dust on a
shelf.
We wanted to create something different.
Something worth keeping.
Every Captain Mail adventure becomes part of a growing
collection of letters, discoveries, activities, and memories.
That's why we created the Captain Mail Folder.
Not simply to organize papers.
But to give families a place to preserve the moments they
shared together.
Years from now, we hope children pull those folders off the
bookshelf and remember more than what they learned.
We hope they remember sitting beside someone who loved
them.
Laughing together.
Building together.
Discovering the world together.
Because one day, those folders won't simply remind
children what they learned.
They'll remind them who they learned it with.
Because the greatest keepsakes aren't the paper.
They're the memories attached to it.
Looking Ahead
Our hope isn't to become another activity your family does.
Our hope is to become one of the moments your children
remember.
Years from now, the paper crafts may become worn.
The puzzles may already be solved.
The jokes may no longer seem funny.
But we hope something far more valuable remains.
A memory of learning together.
Creating together.
Laughing together.
Growing together.
Because the moments we share today become the memories
our children carry into tomorrow.
If Captain Mail becomes even a small part of those
memories, then we've accomplished exactly what we set
out to do.
Thank you for inviting us into your home and allowing us
to become a small part of your family's story.
With gratitude,
Daniel & Sigalit Somech
